(Hi there, I am Kunal Konar)

My name is Kunal Konar. I belong to a small village of Bardhaman, West Bengal, called Basatpur. My father, Late Asit Baran Konar, was a school teaher and so is my mother, Rupali Konar. Through them I have inherited, if I am not mistaken, a very rare pedigree of a Kulintam Khastriya (কুলীনতম ক্ষত্রিয়, বাঙলায়, that is the noblest). Furthermore, my mother, being a Double MA in Sanskrit and Bangla, inserted into me the spirit of altruism since my very childhood. And thereafter I am searching for Bharatbarsa. In the later stages of my career, I have understood that I grew up with best of all theological and philosophical school of thoughts -- Shakto Dharma, Baulism, Sufism, Gaudiya Baisnab Dharma, Buddhist Theology, Fakiri Philosophy, the Essence of Bhagabat and Uponishad with Ramkrishna Kathamitra and the three abrahamic religions. And after spending more than 42 years in this magnificent universe, I have probably found my calling: The path of Shakya Mani. 'Bahujan Hitai, Bahujan Sukhai" --> "Sustainable Development".
This website is my first systematic and professional attempt to disseminate the knowledge that I have acquired to the world in tune of Sustainable Development Goals filtered through my pedigree, learning and experiences.

Professional Me

I am a seasoned professional with natural skills in Leadership, Networking and Business Development, Strategic Planning & Execution and highly trained in Analytic Hydrology. I was graduated in Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2007 and in Master of Engineering (Water and Environment) from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2010.

Previously, I held diverse positions like: Consultant – Environment, Hydrology & Drainage, BUH-Water & Environment, Strategic Partner, Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Professor, Senior Research Fellow, Research Assistant and Site Engineer. I am also life member of several professional and social organizations such as Indian Water Resources Society, Association of Hydrologists of India, Indian Association of Hydrologist, Jadavpur University Alumni Association, Innovation and Skill Development Research Centre, Jadavpur University etc.

I have more than 1.5 Decades of professional experience which covers almost all sub-domains of Civil Engineering. More specifically these sub-domains are Construction, high-end consultancy projects in Irrigation Engineering, Flood Management and Forecasting, Decision Support System, Climate Change Analysis, Hydrometeorological Data Analysis, Urban Drainage etc. I have used plethora of software/tools such as R, Python, ArcGIS, HEC-GeoHMS, HEC-HMS, HEC-DSSVue, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, QGIS, HEC-GeoRAS, MS Office Suites, AutoCAD etc. in my career.

I am also a certified data scientist with special emphasize on hydro-meteorological data analysis, and a certified geospatial analyst. I also have a professional certification in Financial Analysis.

Currently, I am working as an independent consultant with the title Consultant (Business Development & Analytic Hydrology) in the Water and Environment sector, and Consulting Sector in general.

Prodeeptika

First ray of light

While working in Patna, I conceived a newsletter for the IWRS Patna Chapter.

The idea behind Pradeeptika was to create a e-Newsletter such that several happentances in the water & environment field within and outside of Bihar shall briefly be reported and then that magazine will get circulated everywhere. In effect a vibrant Civil Society Multi-logue will get initiated with it but with a firm scientific and ethical basis.

That Prodeeptika was never materialized. So, I have decided to take that idea and then generalize it a bit more. The Creativities Page of this Website carries the essence of Prodeeptika and adds much more to it.
