Traditional Irrigation-Cum-Water Harvesting Systems in India

In the wake of new initiatives/projects across India, by the International Funding Agencies, Ministry of Jal Shakti and aligned Ministries of various State Governments, an article titled “Integrational Need of Traditional & Modern Water Harvesting cum Irrigation Systems: A Bihar Case” caught my attention. This was a conference paper and was presented by Er. Dinesh Prasad Singh, a retired Superintending Engineer of Water Resources, Government of Bihar in the “International Conference on Future of Water Resources (ICFWR-2024)” in Jan2024.

Being a practicing analytic hydrologist myself, I found the article well researched and well timed and I invite the whole water-environment, “Sustainable Development Goal” community to study the article and assimilate its essence in their day-to-day professional life.

However, I have decided to create one summarized table (Table-1) just to impart some curiosity about the scholarship of a veteran water resources engineer in my field within my professional network and beyond.
