This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the Balloon Festival — and Warren County’s 200th birthday, the 87th year of the Fair itself. Special shapes like Fred G. Monster and a giant Birthday Cake balloon tap into nostalgia and whimsy alike.

Following lines chimed in my mind and ChatGPT helped a little with the language and the rhyme :-).
A mosaic of moments, a story unfolds —
A tribute carved in stone, a soul remembered bold,
Fred T. Grotenhuis, whose life took flight,
Etched with the echo of a balloon’s gentle height.
A basket on earth, tethered yet free,
Hands ready to lift, chasing skies' spree,
Colors burst in a vibrant plume,
A canvas of dreams in a balloon's bloom.
Clouds whisper secrets, shrouded and deep,
Veiling the sun in a smoky sweep,
While below, a cake, sweet layers rise,
Candles flicker hope beneath open skies.
Laughter gathers beyond a fence’s hold,
Friends and strangers, young and old,
Together they watch, united and near,
A celebration of life, love, and cheer.
In this quilt of images, moments entwine,
A tale of ascent, memory, and time.
